An exclusive interview investigating AR as a transformative education tool to engage KS2 pupils.

Augmented reality (AR) integrates computer-generated content on top of real-world images, using technology such as goggles or tablets to enhance an experience.  This is a field of constant exploration across many sectors and is finding its way into education. With the support of an experienced team of experts and funding from an EPIC MegaGrant, the EPIC AR research project investigates how AR experiences can enhance the primary science curriculum, and primary education as a whole, going forward.

KS2 Digest speaks exclusively to three project stakeholders, each with an invested interest in the future of AR in education:

  • Warren Fearn – Project Research Lead, AR-Designer, Associate Professor in Design at York St John University

  • Katy Bloom – Experienced teacher, science leader and Associate Professor in Science Education at York St John University

  • Jake Reeves-Kemp – KS2 teacher and computing specialist lead for Ebor Academy Trust
